Jakub Konvica – NEON studio
Brno Design Days is a yearly design festival happening in Brno, a city located in eastern Czechia. Organised by architects and other design enthusiasts, it habitually takes place in soon to be opened reconstructed sites.
This year the venue was former art faculty transformed into a creative hub, launching its existence with this very design event – BDD.
This year’s topic was RE – RE-THINK the way we work, RE-USE materials and resources, RE-GENERATE our souls and bodies, RE-DESIGN for a new way of living. In the set design, the identity was achieved by reusing old construction materials like styrofoam or discarded chandeliers – in a way that it can be used afterwards as well.

In visuals we worked with basic half-circle shapes based on BDD sign, transforming them into various specific or abstract shapes. In some cases, they were even part of typographical systems.
Thanks to the simplicity of the shapes, motion design and sound could add that extra dimension that defines the material and behaviour of the transforming identity.
